Garden Island currently operates as a vital base for the Royal Australian Navy. The Department of Defence is delivering critical infrastructure and engineering works under the Garden Island (East) Critical Infrastructure Recovery Program. Upgrades to the infrastructure include the existing Electrical, Fuel, Sewer, Potable Water, and Compressed Air services across the Naval Base and remediation works to the west dock wharf, east dock wharf and fleet base east. Lendlease have been engaged as the principal contractor to deliver the first and second stage of infrastructure works at Garden Island.
