Parramatta Light Rail – Stage 2

Light Rail redefines travel through the city - Stage 2 will connect the existing Parramatta Light Rail to Sydney Olympic Park

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 is being delivered in phases, beginning with the Enabling Works package. This initial stage comprises approximately 1.3 kilometres of new light rail alignment, including the construction of a public and active transport bridge over the Parramatta River connecting Wentworth Point and Melrose Park.

The Enabling Works contract was awarded to John Holland Pty Ltd following a competitive tender process that attracted interest from 19 leading construction organisations from across Australia and internationally.

Project Significance

The project represents the first major bridge crossing of the Parramatta River since the completion of the Ryde Bridge nearly 40 years ago. In addition to the new bridge infrastructure, the Enabling Works include upgrades to surrounding public spaces, such as improvements to Archer Park, enhancing connectivity and community amenity.
