The WestConnex Rozelle Interchange, a pivotal component of Sydney’s infrastructure development, established crucial connections between western and south-western areas of the city with key destinations like the Central Business District, Kingsford Smith Airport, and Port Botany.

Stage 3B of this ambitious project, known as the M4-M5 Link, involved the construction of extensive tunnels through Rozelle and Camperdown, seamlessly linking Haberfield to St Peters. Since 2019, Witt Consulting was an integral partner, providing comprehensive temporary works solutions across both the civil and tunnel construction sites of the Rozelle Interchange.

Comprehensive Temporary Works Design for Diverse Site Challenges

Witt Consulting delivered a broad spectrum of structural and geotechnical design services, ensuring the stability and safety of temporary works throughout the project. Our expertise encompasses:

  • Retaining Structures: Design and analysis of diverse temporary retaining structures, including sheet pile walls for major road retention, post and lagging walls for rail embankment support, and specialized sheet pile cofferdams to manage soil, groundwater, and existing drainage channels.
  • Shoring and Support Systems: Development of shoring wall systems, hoarding systems, slope reinforcement, and soil reinforcement walls, meticulously designed for site-specific conditions.
  • Construction Support: Provision of engineering solutions for crane setup during girder installation, footing installation for temporary supports, design of gravity retaining walls, and temporary ground support systems.
  • Specialized Analysis and Design: Finite element analysis for mousehole wingwalls, design of heavy vehicle bridges, robust steel structures to support site sheds, and secure service brackets.
  • Safety and Ancillary Structures: Design and certification of temporary signposts, fall restraint anchors, scaffold anchors, site fences, barriers, and wall bracing, ensuring a safe and compliant construction environment.
