Engineering services that stand up to public scrutiny.

From the NSW Parliament to the Art Gallery of NSW, Witt has provided expert engineering advice to the Government sector and contributed to successful remediation and refurbishment of such significant buildings.

The Art Gallery of NSW

The Art Gallery of NSW is one of the largest and most significant public galleries located in Sydney. It is home to a wide collection of Australian and international art. Within the Old Courts of the Gallery, the screw fittings for multiple hanging rails, supporting artworks were exhibiting corrosion and required remediation.

Witt Consulting were engaged by the Art Gallery of NSW for testing services of over 150 existing and newly fixed hanging rails and dado rails located within Old Courts of the Gallery. The scope involved undertaking a proof load test of each rail in accordance with the design specifications provided by the client. Hanging rails ranged from heights up to six metres. In preparation for the testing, we designed and fabricated custom frames and jigs to conduct proof loads tests in both the vertical and horizontal directions. All fasteners which failed the testing were identified and documented.
